Diana swimwear

Filed under: Brand Spotlight — @ 2:44 pm

Ok we have kept this news to ourselves long enough. Come 2009 we will be adding a new brand of swimwear to our already extensive range of ladies swimwear.

Diana swimwear

We will be launching a great range of Diana swimwear.

Italian swimwear manufacturer Diana was established in 1947 and is now one of the world’s leaders in swim and beachwear. Most of the advancements in technical swimwear over the past thirty years has been developed as a result of DIANA research breakthroughs. DIANA sells mainly through a network of agents, distributors and department stores.

Men’s Swimwear From Swim Direct

We don’t often take time to look at men’s swimwear around here so I thought I would throw together a quick post to highlight some of the hottest swimwear for men. Actually that’s a lie – I have no idea what men are rocking out in by the pool or on the beach these days so I will pass you over to swim directs newest employee Chris Williams.

Ok so this is my first article for Swim Direct and I have been told that I better make it a good one or I am fired.
Let’s face it guys – you have worked out all winter to get that shredded beach body for your holiday and now you face the problem of choosing swimwear for the beach. Well lets take a look at some of the great range of men’s swimwear that is out there.

Board Shorts and Water Shorts.

Board Shorts are great. They can be worn around the pool and then worn to the zoo or the shops without anyone calling the police or without tutting when you walk past. We have all seen the speedo man souvenir shopping with just a pair of swimming trunks on.

Any man can wear board shorts and look good, even if he is not out surfing. The long length of surfing shorts and the adjustable lace-up front make them ideal for most men. The only problem is that they do not allow a man’s thighs to ever see the sun, so his thighs remain white, all through the summer.

Another great advantage is that they can be worn once you get home so they aren’t just for summer.
Water shorts are like board shorts only shorter meaning the sun can tan your legs and you won’t be left with huge white patches when you get home. They also have supportive netting meaning the boys wont slip out of the barracks should you stretch too far.

Aqua Shorts

Aqua shorts are a modest version of the Speedo and actually a great and stylish piece of men’s swimwear for just sun bathing in. Aqua shorts are gaining in popularity all the time especially amongst Europeans. Aqua Shorts won’t leave you with long tan lines. With designers such as FCUK, DKNY and Armani all bringing out new collections for 2009 – it might be worth thinking about these for next summer. However remember to take another pair of longer shorts with you if you plan on walking about. You wouldn’t want to be ‘that guy’.

Swimming Trunks

Trust me; unless you are a swimmer, leave the trunks at home. Opt for the more modern aqua shorts and if you do have to wear a speedo; please don’t walk around in it.

Mankini/ Male Thong.

Just don’t! Your not Borat, it’s not funny and people will not like you. In fact if you do try this there will be a zone around you where nobody will dare enter for fear of being associated with you.

There is so much great men’s swimwear out at the moment from the leading designers that it’s going to be a good year next year.

Speedo Speed Socket Goggles

Filed under: Swimming Products — Tags: — @ 2:39 pm

Speedo Speed Socket have just come back into stock!

The Speedsocket Mirror Goggles from Speedo are a low profile racing goggle, ideal for indoor or outdoor swimming. As worn by Michael Phelps in Athens 2004.

Speedo produce a fantastic range of swimwear and swimming accesories including swimsuits, swimming goggles, kickboards, swimming fins and pullbouys plus much more.

About Speedo
Founded in Australia by Alexander MacRae, a 22-year-old Scottish immigrant who arrived in the country in 1910. The ‘SPEEDO’ company began when MacRae Hosiery manufacturers, established by Alexander in 1914, extended the manufacture of underwear to swimwear and became MacRae Knitting Mills.

This acceptance of swimwear and the introduction of the ‘Racerback’ costume meant it was time for a new company name. A staff competition was held and won by a Captain Parsonson who coined the slogan ‘Speed on in your Speedos’. The SPEEDO name was born in 1928.

Speedo Fastskin Pro LZR Racer

Those of you who have been following the Speedo Fastskin Pro LZR Racer suit saga will be interested to learn that FINA (Fédération Internationale de Natation - International Federation of Swimming) are meeting with Speedo to discuss the materials used to create the suits.

Since they started to make an appearance on the world stage, world records have been repeatedly smashed in them and some swimmers are seeing this as an unfair advantage due to the suit cutting drag by roughly five percent and allowing the swimmer to maintain better buoyancy in the water.

Some nations are complaining that due to limited supply, price tag and sponsorship deals there isn’t a level playing field (or should that be pool?). Canada has only had about five suits delivered making it impossible for everyone to try them. Italy will not be able to wear the suit as they have a sponsorship contract with Arena while the Japanese have ties to Mizuno.

Techniques to Consider for Any Stroke

Filed under: Swimming Articles — @ 10:00 am

Swimming as a competitive sport has many rules as well as different techniques for the four strokes. The four strokes are the freestyle, backstroke, butterfly, and breaststroke. Each stroke has its own technique, but there are four points you should consider for any stroke.

First whenever you begin a stroke for swimming you need to analyze your leg kick, the timing, arm cycle, and breathing. The leg kick is meant to control the position of the body in the water no matter what stroke you are doing during an event. The arm cycle is generally going to be the propulsive force that moves you through the water. In other words the legs will give you the control over your body that you need to stay steady, while the arms will do much of the work to get you done the lane. It is important to time the strokes properly with the arm cycle and leg kicks to get your speed. If you are moving the arms and legs without synchronization you are not going to move very fast or have a smooth technique. The movement should not be wasted energy. The breathing is also very important in an effort for a more graceful movement so that it doesn’t disrupt your fluidity.
